The Howard Primary School, Elford
We hope you all had a wonderful, restful two-week Easter break and managed to enjoy some quality time with your families. It has been lovely to see the children return with such high energy and big smiles, ready to tackle the final term of the academic year.
The "summer" term is always our busiest, and the staff and pupils have already hit the ground running. With the days lengthening and the weather (hopefully!) finally turning a corner, our children have already been taking their learning outside more frequently. From practical science to outdoor reading, we are making the most of our beautiful grounds.
Before we broke for the holidays, our classrooms continued to be hubs of discovery and excitement.
Our youngest learners dived deep into the world of The three little pigs. They became mini-engineers, investigating making bricks for the pigs’ houses. Unsurprisingly, the mud was a particular highlight—while it may not have been the most "wolf-proof" material for bricks, it certainly provided the most fun!
Class 2 visited our friends at Richard Crosse School (within our MAT) for a brilliant conclusion to their Great Fire of London topic. They enjoyed a visiting theatre group and spent the day crafting intricate Tudor houses and firescapes.
While the British weather was unfortunately too damp to allow for our planned outdoor reenactment fire, the spirit of the day remained undampened!
April brings excitement to The Howard with the sound of music drifting across the playground as May Dance rehearsals officially began! The children are working hard, with the expert help of Rachel Gilbert, to perfect their routines ahead of our traditional May Queen event on 3rd June. Our year 6 girls have also started their sashes and poems ahead of their crownings.
Save the Date: Wednesday 3rd June from 9am. We will be embarking on our traditional May walk around the village, stopping to sing songs to our community. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect with our local community, and we truly hope to see many of you waving from your doorsteps or joining us along the route!
If you would like to see other events we have coming up, please head over to the Events Page on our school website for the full calendar.
Let’s hope the sunshine stays with us ahead of our final, busy term.
From everyone at The Howard Primary
