To celebrate Chinese New Year we enjoyed a number of activities and also came to school wearing red - the Chinese symbol for good fortune and joy. One of the activities was Chinese food tasting and some children were trying Chinese cuisine for the first time. On offer was prawn crackers, fried rice, spring rolls, dumplings, chilli sauce, soy sauce and prawn toast. Each child had to score their food according to their favourite and it was prawn crackers that was the clear winner, closely followed by prawn toast and fried rice. It was really pleasing to see children trying new tastes and flavours and don’t be surprised if they are pestering you to add chilli sauce to your weekly shopping list!
