Homework is used to enhance and support the learning which takes place in school; it should not be a chore or battle. Little and often is the best way.
- 20 minute daily reading - please record this in the reading diaries. Reading records and reading book should be in school on a daily basis
- learning weekly spellings and practising the Year 3 and 4 words or the Year 2 common exception words
- learning multiplication tables
There may be additional homework which may take the form of research or investigation, or if a child needs more practice in maths or English. However, this will be on a needs basis. We will be using Education City for many of these homework activities.
Reading Diaries will be checked every Monday so please make sure that they are in school on this day.
Helping your Child to Read at Home
Pupils should use Spelling Shed to practise their weekly spellings in a fun interactive way. However, it is still important to practise writing them down and putting them into sentences because this helps with muscle memory.

All of our children have access to Education City which is an interactive online English, Maths and Science programme.

By the end of Year 4, pupils will be tested on their rapid recall of their multiplication tables to 12x12. Therefore, you can practice beating your score at home and in school, using Times Tables Rock Stars online. All pupils in Year 2, 3 and 4 have a log in and can access it at anytime.
